PPLUS Shipping Masks and Ventilators to Government Agencies in DC

Countries across the globe are facing unprecedented shortages of healthcare supplies needed to combat the coronavirus pandemic.  The U.S. government started sending out notices of urgent needs for sanitizer to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.  In response, many businesses switched to move production from alcohol and food products to make hand sanitizer.  The other major supply shortages have been in the healthcare industry and PPLUS Global Logistics decided to help with their knowledge of the shipping industry so they could make a difference.(1)  More than 9,000 healthcare employees have contracted COVID in the U.S. according to the CDC data.(2)

The Healthcare Crisis

U.S. hospitals began reporting shortages of key equipment needed to care for critically ill patients, including ventilators and personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical staff.  Adequate production and distribution of equipment are crucial for patients during the pandemic.  The Centers for Disease Control reported that 10% to 20% of all infections in the U.S. are among healthcare workers.

PPLUS Shipping Urgent Freight in the U.S.

While the team at Performance Plus Global Logistics (PPLUS) is continuing to support their customers and the Performance Industry with urgent freight and expedited shipping needs, they became heavily involved in providing global logistics services for the current pandemic situation.

Every day, PPLUS is moving urgent medical supplies from direct manufacturers all over the world to key government and medical facilities in the U.S. and specifically into Washington D.C.  This includes moving masks, gowns, ventilators, thermometers, and other supplies via direct Airfreight and Air Charters and of course via the U.S. truckers, who are true American heroes.

The Air Cargo Community Responds to Pandemic Supply Shortage

The aviation and air cargo sectors have mobilized in a big way to help supply personal protective equipment (PPE), hand sanitizer, ventilators, and other desperately needed items for combating the deadly COVID-19 disease.

The crisis is shining a light on the importance of logistics and supply chain management for helping save lives.  But also for bringing staples and food to populations sheltering in place.

Air transport is being heavily relied on because many emergency supplies are located overseas or across the country.

Air shipping is the fastest mode for getting them to where the outbreak is spreading.

Airlines and freight forwarders have been continuing to ramp up their cargo operations. This is in response to the urgent demand for critical medical equipment.
